We sat down with PLAY's software engineer, Alessio to get to know more about his role at PLAY, his personal highlights at the company, and what he gets up to in his spare time!

Tell us about your role at PLAY?
I am a Software Engineer. My role is a lot of coding, finding solutions and bashing my head on the keyboard when things don’t go as expected (and sometimes the bashing actually solves the problem).

What's your favourite part of the job?
My job becomes less exciting when it’s too repetitive and I am not motivated by new challenges. So my favourite part is when I encounter new situations, where I need to learn and think in order to find new solutions.

What's one of the most challenging parts of your role?
Working as an engineer often means that you are given time constraints, and sometimes you need to make the right decision in a short amount of time. I would say that is the challenging part.

What's your best PLAY memory?
It’s probably the ski trip. We went to Andorra for 4 days and it was a lot of fun (and beers)

What's your career highlight?
Joining PLAY was a big pivot for me, since I was coming from a much bigger and corporate company. But this position gave me the possibility to grow much more.

When you're not working, how do you like to spend your spare time?
Lots of gaming, gym, planning trips and drinking with friends. I am trying to learn Japanese so I can finally travel to Tokyo at some point!
